NEXTing Note (10/13/25)

God does not want you to live in your pain; He wants you to live through your pain. Do you recognize your pain points?  Does your pain ever render you immobile, unable to move into what’s next?

That’s so true. Pain can either stop you in your tracks or push you to grow—it really depends on how you deal with it. I’ve found that when you actually face what’s hurting instead of avoiding it, that’s when you start to move forward. It’s not easy, but for me that’s usually where the breakthrough happens.

What you say to yourself matters. The words or stories you tell yourself can be the difference between staying where you are and moving forward towards your next. Does your self-talk strengthen and encourage you?

The truth is, we will face disappointment, discomfort, and setbacks while NEXTing. However, failing or losing in our life journey isn't the worst thing that could happen, but succeeding without experiencing transformation might be. Have you ever feared failing or losing what you have so much that you resisted change and transformation, even when it was necessary for greater gains?

NEXTing as a strategy is necessary because change is not always accompanied by transition. Change is always happening around us, in spite of us, and sometimes to us or for us.  Transition happens when we acknowledge, accept, and adapt to change.  NEXTing is expecting, embracing, and experiencing change.  How do you manage change? Are you ready for what’s next?

NEXTing Note (09/15/25)

NEXTing involves acknowledging the things that are outside of your control and surrendering, with trust, to the plans of God for your life. Have you tried intentionally giving up your desire to control every aspect of your life, acknowledging that you cannot manage everything, and instead entrusting your plans, worries, and burdens to God?

Honestly, trying to control everything will wear you out real quick. At some point, you realize you just can’t manage it all—and that’s where I’ve learned to let go and put it in God’s hands. It’s not always easy, because my first instinct is to figure it out myself, but when I step back and trust Him, I find more peace than I ever could’ve created on my own.

The unexpected does not have to be devastating -- sometimes life takes a "wrong" turn in the right direction. Have unexpected events ever pleasantly surprised you?  Have you ever discovered peace by taking an unexpected path?

NEXTing serves as both a noun—describing our lifelong journey shaped by transitions and choices—and a verb, representing the proactive steps we take to prepare for what's next with a strategic mindset. Do you agree that life is inevitably filled with transitions but intentionally fulfilled by our perspective, values, and choices? Do you believe that one can be ready for whatever is next?

The strategic process of NEXTing develops character traits like resiliency and perseverance that help you to embrace new pathways forward.  Do you find yourself stuck when transition threatens familiar plans and paths?

Totally get that. Change can really throw us off, especially when it messes with what we thought life was supposed to look like. But that’s kind of where I believe the good stuff happens,

“Nexting” isn’t just about moving on—it’s about learning to roll with life, even when it doesn’t go according to plan. It builds that inner grit—resilience, patience, trust. And yeah, sometimes it’s messy or uncomfortable, but that’s where we grow the most.
